Yes they can be boring but for a new player you get several ships and some nice isk to help you start off with. Don't trust other players with anything, if it sounds to good to be true, then they are most likely trying to scam you.
When trying to buy stuff off of the market, don't just click buy from the first screen in the module selection, always click market details then you can select where you want to buy it from and can see where you might get a better deal.
Edit: Never buy anything from anybody advertising in local chat. If there 'deal' was really so great, they would not need to advertise it.

Sadly I can't really offer as much advice as I'd like. I haven't played EVE for quite a few years, but I can probably still do general QnA. Feel free to message me (or Qahnaarin Haederox) in dust if you've got questions.
Both of these make very important points. Listen to them.
You don't have to join EVE Uni, but you should at the very least be reading their wiki online. You SHOULD, however, seriously think about joining a player-run corporation.
I know that Dust does a kitten-poor job of facilitating communication inside of corporations, but in both games it is very important. EVE has a lot more tools for it and being in a good corporation you will learn to use them very effectively. |

Iron Wolf Saber wrote: Anyways Eve University is a great place to start. Agony Empire if you can afford it and is joined in another corp, get friends at least willing to teach you. If its too good to be true it is.
Agony Unleashed is THE corp to learn PVP- they offer classes (for a fee) to non-members and you pretty much have to pass those classes to have a chance at joining.
However... Those classes cost tens of millions of ISK, plus the cost of ships and equipment.
Think of them as a graduate program in Applied Whoopkitten.
Right now, focus on the basic undergraduate fundamentals of making money, learning the nuances of the nuances of the nuances of the game. EVE University is a better option for that. |

Skillzo Fixo wrote:Speaking of Eve, and the Dust-Eve connection, anyone care to link to decent 'Orbital strike' load outs? Bein a complete noobtastic newbro to Eve I am not real great at creating fits in-game, and am really curious what everyone thinks the 'perfect' ship and fit would be for orbital strikes.
When an orbital is called for, is it limited to one turret being used to complete the strike? Or if it is from a Destroyer with 6 highs dedicated to the strike would there be greater damage?
It looks like it has to be small turrets, right?
Yes, it is small turrets and yes, destroyers get to use all of their guns and are considered the ideal platform for the current iteration of OBs.
Basically, you'd fit the destroyer like normal but substitute the "Tactical" ammo for OBs instead of normal ammo. Tactical ammo requires Morphite, so it's a bit pricey, though not insane.
Also, get a fleet to cover your back.

So smart ISK is in the Morphite market during the intial rush of PC then I would imagine. That and pumping out Destroyers of various types? That's heavy speculation but it's possible, though due to the limited size of our initial playground for PC I doubt we'll have much effect if any on the market. Though I suppose you could probably make a buck if you happened to have a whole lot of ammo for sale in the system. whether it's Molden Heath or ends up being somewhere else is still a possibility.
Hush... Stop giving away my industrial corp's SECRET PLANS!!! |
